Women’s Golf opens spring season in Huntsville
University of North Alabama Women’s Golf Team Begins Spring Season at Huntsville.org Intercollegiate
The University of North Alabama (UNA) women’s golf team is set to kick off its spring season at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, hosted by Samford at Hampton Cove in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, on March 3-4, 2024. This event will also serve as a precursor to the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, scheduled for April 14-16 at the same location.
The tournament will feature 12 teams, with UNA among three representing Alabama, alongside host Samford and Troy. Other participating schools include ASUN members Bellarmine and West Georgia, as well as institutions like Oakland, UNC Asheville, and Tennessee Tech.
Hampton Cove is known for its stunning terrain and is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, making it an ideal setting for competitive play. The Lions’ lineup includes experienced seniors Jahnavi Prakhya and Hannah Dees, along with three freshmen, including first-time starter Elsa Steinarsdottir.
The team wrapped up their fall season with a strong performance at The Judson, finishing fourth out of 10, highlighted by Kerigan Klauber’s top-10 finish. In last year’s Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, UNA placed ninth, with notable performances from Prakhya and Dees.
As they embark on a challenging spring schedule, the Lions are eager to make an impact in the tournament and build on their previous successes. For updates and results, fans can follow UNA Athletics on social media and their official website.
