Weekend Highlights in the Tennessee Valley
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This weekend is packed with exciting events across the Tennessee Valley, offering activities for all ages and interests.
On Saturday, March 1, residents can enjoy the 13th Annual Community Kite Festival at John Hunt Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families can also attend the 47th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to noon, and participate in a royal breakfast with the 12 Dancing Princesses at the Fantasy Playhouse Theater at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
For those seeking adventure, Burritt’s Fire on the Mountain event will take attendees back to the 1800s, featuring historic cooks and blacksmith demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center invites visitors to explore its new exhibit, “Discovering Mars: Robot Explorers.”
Evening festivities include the much-anticipated Carnegie Carnival Parade in Decatur at 6 p.m. and a Blues concert at the VBC Propst Arena at 8 p.m. For sports fans, the Huntsville Havoc hockey team will face off against the Birmingham Bulls at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, March 2, the community is invited to the 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Paw Parade at noon. Additionally, families can participate in a service project at the historic Gladys Jane Motel on March 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.
With events ranging from cultural to culinary, this weekend promises a variety of activities to experience in the Tennessee Valley.
